QR code tickets replace paper tickets and physical stubs at events. Here's how they work, why organisers use them, and what you need to know as a ticket buyer in Pakistan.

What is a QR code ticket

A QR code (Quick Response code) ticket is a square barcode that contains your booking details in a machine-readable format. When you buy a ticket on BuyTicket, a unique QR code is generated for your order. Gate staff scan the code on your phone to confirm your entry — no printing required.

Each QR code is unique to one ticket and can only be scanned once for entry. If a code has already been scanned, the gate system flags it as a duplicate and denies entry. This prevents ticket sharing or photocopied fakes.

How gate scanning works at events

BuyTicket provides event organisers with a browser-based check-in desk and an Android scanner app. Gate staff open the scanner, point the camera at your QR code, and get an instant green (valid) or red (invalid/already used) result. For large events, multiple scanners run in parallel so entry lines move quickly.

The scanner works with an internet connection and syncs attendance data in real time. Organisers can see how many attendees have arrived, when entry peaks, and whether any tickets have been scanned more than once — all from the organiser dashboard.

Tips for buyers using QR tickets

Keep your phone charged on event day. A dead battery means you cannot show your QR ticket. Take a screenshot of the QR code so it is accessible even without internet. Some events have very fast-moving entry queues — have your ticket open and ready before you reach the scanner.

If you transferred your ticket to someone else, their copy is the valid one. Do not try to use the same QR code twice. Contact BuyTicket support if your ticket shows as already scanned when you have not yet entered.

  • Charge your phone before the event.
  • Screenshot the QR ticket in case internet is slow at the venue.
  • Have the ticket open and ready before reaching the scanner.
  • Contact support if your valid ticket is flagged as already scanned.
